Brief History
In 2014, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, in its option for the poor and the marginalized, started its rural Campus at Raghabpur under Panuka Gram Panchayat in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The college is run by the Society of Jesus with the motto of “Magis” ad majorem Dei gloriam, meaning for the Greater Glory of God. It’s the core principle on which the Order of the Society of Jesus functions. The Raghabpur campus is 18. Kms away from Kolkata.
Raghabpur campus was started under the visionary zeal and leadership of Fr. Felix Raj SJ, the then Principal of St. Xavier’s College. A rural campus of St. Xavier’s college in the Raghabpur area has opened a new path for the rural youth to become first-generation learners.
Under the present principal Fr. Dominic Savio SJ, the new Campus is steadily growing in all round development.. The Campus is sprawled around 7.acres of land surrounded by many ponds that give an added natural beauty to the area. It is a home for many varieties of birds in the setting. The Campus has two large spacious academic buildings, covering 1,05 000 square feet, which provide all the modern-day facilities for students.
