The Postgraduate Department of Education organized a workshop titled ‘BEST OUT OF WASTE’ on 22nd July, 2023, as part of the initiative, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, launched by the Government of India to commemorate 75 years of independence of India. It is in sync with the theme suggested by NCTE to all Teacher Education Institutions across India. The day proved to be a resourceful, inspiring and enlightening one to all in attendance, with all the exquisite creations made by the students out of discarded materials. The workshop was inaugurated by Father Principal Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio SJ and started with enthusiasm and zeal after the welcome address by the Vice Principal of the Department of Education Dr. Swati Sarkar. The workshop tried to instill an essence of self-reliance and sustainability in future teachers, who bear the responsibility of making a better future for generations to come.

Rev Dr Dominic Savio , SJ visited today and blessed the elder residents of the old age home Little Sisters of the Poor in Kolkata . Father spent quality time with the elders in a get together organised by the Women’s Forum of SXCCAA on Wednesday 15.02.2023 . The elder residents of the old age home were extremely happy and joyful having Father amongst them .

Rev Fr. Dr. Dominic Savio , SJ graced the inaugural ceremony of South Kolkata Christmas Carnival as the guest of Honour on 22.12.2022 Monday . Father was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Hon’ble Minister and Mayor Mr. Firhad Hakim in presence of Mrs Mala Roy , MP and other dignitaries for his selfless services in the field of Philanthrophy and Social Work towards the benefit of the downtrodden and marginalised people .

The Christmas celebration of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) Kolkata was graced by the honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal. She inaugurated the crib and said in her address that christmas day should be declared as a national holiday. The Christmas celebration of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) Kolkata was not confined to the Christians but the alumni, staffs, students and all other associated with this august institution. In his address Rev. Fr. Dr. Dominic Savio, Principal, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata and President, St. Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association, mentioned that the joy of Christmas to be shared with the marginalised and the downtrodden, which St. Xavier’s College Kolkata has been doing.

Confederation of West Bengal Traders Association (CWBTA) at its annual award ceremony on Monday, December 19th, 2022 felicitated Rev. Fr. The association honors leaders from different walks of life every year for their outstanding contribution.
The CWBTA while giving away the award has praised St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata and it’s Principal for bringing in qualitative changes in Higher Education in this part of the country.

In continuation to the inauguration of the week-long Philanthropic activities during this Christmas season , today on 18 December 2022 Rev. Fr. Dr. Dominic Savio SJ , Principal of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) and President of St. Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association graced ”LET’S SHARE & CARE” initiative at Paikhala Prathamik Vidyalay (A Charitable school adopted by SXCCAA) in presence of Rev. Fr. Joseph Kulandai SJ, Rev. Fr. Peter Arockiam SJ, other Fathers and Brother of St. Xavier’s Community and alumni members. Father shared the message of Christmas with the students, urged them to pursue higher education and gifted goodie bags and blankets to more than 150 children present there.
In another celebration at the Rural campus of the College at Raghabpur organised by NSS around 500 children came from adjacent villages of the campus and greeted the dignitaries . Father shared his Christmas message and gifts with all the children .
